Rosie: A bit of drama to tell you about this week! The chimney in the living room caught fire and after a lot of noise (from the fire alarms) and running in and out by my owners and Francesca (eldest grandchild), who was trying to rescue her favourite toys, Rosie and Bowie, the fire brigade were called. The alpacas were actually the first to notice the sparks – they gathered in a group and Adam sounded the alarm. The fire-truck arrived and there were five firemen! Misty and I were on our leads so we weren’t allowed to meet and greet them in our usual exuberant way, but it was all very exciting.

To top that, there are now two ponies in the orchard next door. They are brown and white and we enjoy barking at them when they come too close to the fence!

All the family are coming back for the weekend so We’re looking forward to playing with our little visitors and Elsa (our German Shepherd friend).

Misty: Sorry I have only just got round to writing – there is just so much going on in the garden! I love being outside, especially at night, when I can sniff out shrews and watch ever growing (in size and number) mole hills.

My owners have been busy too, cleaning out the paddocks on the few sunny days we’ve had over the last couple of weeks. The alpacas are currently in the two far paddocks – which is fine by me because I find them a little scary!

My brother Flash came to play in the week (he lives down the road). We had a great time chasing each other around and so much fun that he didn’t want to go home!

The chickens are still escaping at least three times a day – it’s always the same two – Cordelia and Lavinia. Fortunately being rounded up by Rosie and I doesn’t stop them laying. We now have over a hundred eggs in the cupboard. Good job it’s half term soon and we’ll have a full hungry house!

Rosie: Today the boys discovered the gap in the temporary fence and pushed their way through to the greener grass. Luckily they gorged themselves pretty quickly and moved back to the right paddock before the girls noticed them over the fence!

I haven’t chased chickens much today so I’m in my owners’ good books. Unfortunately though I’ve rolled in something, which I thought smelt lovely, but nobody else seems to think so.

I’m very excited because my owners’ grandchildren are coming to stay for the weekend and they always chase Misty and I around and give us lots of attention.
